I Keep Seeing Jeff Sessions in Black & White

The visage of the forthcoming United States Attorney General reminds me of familiar faces from The Old South.
If you live in the relatively comfortable bubble of a blue state, you might not have been feeling as visceral a reaction to Trump’s tapping of Jeff Sessions for US Attorney General as those of us close to Session’s home state of Alabama.
Sessions is a familiar face to politically aware Southerners, and while most are now awakening to the fact that Sessions was denied a federal judgeship by the US Senate in the 80s for making racist comments (surely not the most racially-aware decade or the most woke bunch of Senators) I can’t stop seeing the Sessions appointment — and his face — in black and white.
